Air Purifier with built in ionizer... Good or Bad?? - Solenco South Africa

Air Purifier with built in ionizer... Good or Bad??

Over the last few months Air Purifiers have been in high demand and we have often been asked about the ozone and the ionizer found in the bigger Solenco Air Purifier model.

When people hear the word ozone they immediately back track and ask questions about the amount of ozone the unit produces. So how much ozone is too much and how much is acceptable?

First things first the Solenco CF8608 Air Purifier is NOT an ozone generator which is another machine completely that needs to be used by professionals and under strict conditions.

The fact is that this unit does have an ionizer and as such Ozone is a by-product of the process of cleaning the air. Most ionic air purifiers (ionizers) are completely safe and not bad for your health. They use ions to remove particles, microbes and odors from the air and make the air in a room healthier for people to breathe, especially if you suffering from allergies, asthma or other respiratory related ailments. This process is harmless to you.

Air Ionizer Benefits

Is an ionizer good for your health? Evidence shows that air ionizers purify the air of bacteria, dust, cigarette smoke, molds, soot, pollen and household odors. This has significant impact on people suffering from hay fever and other seasonal allergies. Asthma sufferers have also noticed a difference in the quality of air they breathe after using an Air Purifier with an Ionizer. They can help improve sleep patterns.

This product is sold in various areas like the USA and Europe where laws against high levels of Ozone are prohibited. Within our manual, we state:

“This product complies with the maximum allowable concentration of ozone of 0.050 parts per million by volume (ppmv) in a 24-hour period. The Health Canada Guideline 2010 (ISBN 978-1-100-16288-1) recommends that the maximum exposure limit, based on an average time of 8 hours, is 0.020 ppmv or less when tested in a sealed, controlled room approximately 30m3”

Below the specification of the Ionizer and it shows the volume of Ozone produced by the Solenco CF8608 Air Purifier
